The Lutheran Chorales: Hymns of the Reformation
The chorales are the hymns of the Reformation. Martin Luther and the pastors after him wrote them so that the whole congregation, not only a choir, could sing the faith in its own language.
Many are still sung in Lutheran churches today, and Johann Sebastian Bach built much of his church music on their tunes.
