“Jesus, Priceless Treasure” at HymnaryAbout this hymn
This hymn says that Jesus is the believer's greatest treasure. Danger, sin, death and every loss can come, and still nothing can separate the believer from him, so the singer lets go of other treasures and holds to Jesus.
It rests on Romans 8:35-39, where nothing in all creation can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus, and on the parable of the treasure hidden in a field in Matthew 13:44.
It is sung at any time. Johann Franck wrote the German original in 1653; Catherine Winkworth translated it in 1863.
