“Earth and All Stars” at HymnaryAbout this hymn
"Earth and All Stars" (first line "Earth and all stars!") calls on the natural world and on human work, such as building, learning, family life and the arts, to sing a new song to God.
It draws on Psalms 96, 98 and 150. The new song in Revelation 5:9 is sung to Christ the Lamb, who has made all things new. It is sung in the Easter season, in the season after Pentecost, and at school and college events.
Herbert F. Brokering, a Lutheran pastor, wrote the text in 1964 for St. Olaf College's ninetieth anniversary. David N. Johnson wrote the tune.
