“All Hail the Power of Jesus' Name” at HymnaryAbout this hymn
This hymn calls angels, martyrs, the people of Israel, sinners saved by grace and every nation to honor Jesus and "crown him Lord of all."
It rests on Philippians 2:9-11, where every knee bows and every tongue confesses that Jesus Christ is Lord, and on Revelation 19, where Christ wears many crowns.
It is sung at any time, often on Christ the King Sunday at the end of the church year. Edward Perronet, an English preacher, published it in 1779 and 1780.
