A binding promise between God and people. Jesus spoke of a new covenant at the Last Supper.
The fuller definition
A binding promise that sets up a relationship. In the Bible God makes covenants with Noah, Abraham, Israel at Sinai and David, and Jesus speaks of a new covenant in his blood at the Last Supper. God keeps covenant even when people do not.
