Consubstantiation

A term often used to describe the Lutheran view of Communion, but one Lutherans have historically declined as their own label. Lutherans affirm the real presence of Christ's body and blood in the bread and wine without offering a philosophical explanation of how. “Consubstantiation” implies a specific scholastic mechanism that Lutheran confessional writings don't actually teach.
