Creed

In plain words

A short summary of what Christians believe, said together in church.

The fuller definition

From the Latin credo, “I believe.” A short summary of the faith said aloud together in worship. Lutherans use three: the Apostles’ Creed, the Nicene Creed and, rarely, the Athanasian Creed. Saying it is joining what the church has confessed for centuries, not passing a test.
