Sunday’s stories, for your newsletter

Our sister site, Free Scripture, tells the Bible’s stories one scene at a time, in plain words. Below, each coming Sunday’s readings are matched to those stories and written as lines you can paste into a newsletter, a bulletin or your sermon notes. Any church may use them. There is nothing to sign up for and nothing to ask.

Where a line fits

  • In the weekly email or newsletter, under the Sunday readings: one line per story, so people can read ahead before they sit down in the pew.
  • At the end of sermon notes, or in the printed bulletin: the story you preached on, for anyone who wants to go back to it during the week.
  • For confirmation and Sunday school: each story says up front how long it takes to read, from about eight minutes to twenty-six, and notes anything hard in it before you open it.

The stories quote the Berean Standard Bible, a modern public-domain translation; this site reads from the World English Bible, also public domain, so a word here and there may differ. Free Scripture is a project of Hope for Americans, like this site. See every story on Free Scripture.
