“In the Cross of Christ I Glory” at HymnaryAbout this hymn
The singer says that the cross of Christ stands above the ruins of history. In trouble it gives light, and in happy times it gives joy a deeper meaning.
The first line comes from Galatians 6:14, where Paul says he will boast only in the cross of Jesus Christ. It is sung in Lent and at other times when the church reflects on the cross.
John Bowring published it in 1825.
