About this hymn

"Shine, Jesus, Shine" (first line "Lord, the light of your love is shining") asks Jesus to shine his light into a dark world, to bring people into God's presence, and to make them reflect his glory.

It rests on John 8:12, where Jesus calls himself the light of the world, and on 2 Corinthians 3-4. It is sung in Epiphany, especially on Transfiguration Sunday.

Graham Kendrick, an English songwriter, wrote the words and music in 1987.
