“Great Is Thy Faithfulness” at HymnaryAbout this hymn
The singer praises God, who does not change, whose mercies come new each morning, and who gives pardon, peace and strength for each day.
It rests on Lamentations 3:22-23: 'his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.' Christians see that faithfulness kept in Jesus, in whom all God's promises are Yes (2 Corinthians 1:20).
It is sung in any season. Thomas Chisholm, a Methodist writer from Kentucky, wrote it in 1923, and William Runyan wrote the tune the same year.
