“Gather Us In” at HymnaryAbout this hymn
"Gather Us In" (first line "Here in this place the new light is streaming") asks God to gather every kind of person into worship, to feed them, and to send them out to serve.
It draws on Isaiah 25:6 and Luke 14:15-24, the great banquet to which Jesus says the poor and the outsiders are invited. It is sung as an opening hymn at any time of year, and fits Holy Communion.
Marty Haugen, an American composer, wrote the words and music in 1982.
