“Blessed Assurance” at HymnaryAbout this hymn
The singer says that Jesus belongs to her, that she is bought and washed by his blood, and that she will praise him all day long while she waits for him.
It rests on Hebrews 10:22, which calls believers to draw near 'in full assurance of faith', because Jesus has made the way open by his blood.
It is sung in any season. Fanny Crosby, who was blind from infancy and wrote thousands of hymns, wrote these words in 1873 to a tune by her friend Phoebe Palmer Knapp.
