Altar
In plain words
The table at the front of the church where communion is prepared and given.
The fuller definition
The table at the front of the church where communion is prepared and given. Lutherans speak of it as the Lord’s table: the place where Christ gives himself, not a place where a sacrifice is offered to God to win his favour.
In Sunday worship: The parts of a service, daily prayer, and the things you see in a church.
