The Lutheran church year moves through six seasons: Advent (waiting), Christmas (incarnation), Epiphany (revelation), Lent (repentance), Easter (resurrection), and the Time after Pentecost (discipleship). The color changes with each season: blue for Advent, white and gold for festivals, violet for Lent, red for Pentecost and martyrs’ days, green for ordinary time. The liturgical calendar is one of the oldest forms of Christian formation. The body learns the story by living inside it, year after year.
